A little about me & Be Your Muse Yoga

My journey into the world of prenatal and mama-baby yoga began the most personal way possible — with my own pregnancy. That experience planted a seed, and what grew from it has become the studio and community I always wished had existed for me.
About four years ago, I started offering 4-day retreats in Austria — first for pregnant women, and later for mamas and their babies. Those retreats were intimate, nourishing spaces where women could slow down, breathe, and feel held during one of life’s biggest transitions. Seeing what that kind of dedicated space could offer women became my why.
Last autumn, I took the leap and opened Be Your Muse Yoga in Vienna’s 18th district, near Gersthof. It’s a family studio for women in all phases of life — with a special focus on pregnant mamas, postpartum mamas, and mama-baby pairs. It’s the studio I dreamed of when I was pregnant myself.
I am also a mompreneur — a word I’ve come to genuinely love. Being self-employed while raising my daughter gives me something I treasure deeply: flexibility. I can take her to kindergarten in the morning, carve out my work hours around her schedule, and still find time to visit my family in France — which matters enormously to me. I can be present for her in a way that a traditional job might not have allowed, while at the same time do what I love (teach yoga) and make an income that allows me as a woman in a partnership to be slowly financial credible and independent.
But I want to be honest: it’s not always easy. Growing a small business with limited hours on your hands, wearing countless different hats in a single day — teacher, marketer, retreat organiser, studio manager, accountant, customer service, and yes, even the person who buys the toilet paper — is both deeply fulfilling and genuinely challenging. Most mornings start with the kindergarten run, and then I try to squeeze a full workday into half of one before picking her up again in the early afternoon.
Both parts of my identity matter to me, and every day I learn a little more about giving space and appreciation to both. That’s what Be Your Muse Yoga is built on — the belief that you don’t have to choose between who you are and who you’re becoming.
Mama Baby Yoga Vienna 18 | Be Your Muse Yoga – The Family Yoga Studio in Gersthof / Währing
The first period after birth is a time of profound transformation. Your body is recovering. Your nervous system is recalibrating. Your entire sense of self is shifting. And in the middle of all of it — you’re holding a baby.
For many new mothers, finding time for movement, breath, and reconnection with their own body feels almost impossible. Not because they don’t want to — but because there is a small person who needs them. Constantly and completely.
That’s exactly what Mama Baby Yoga is here for — and exactly why Be Your Muse Yoga offers a range of mama-baby offerings: Yoga, Pilates, Mantra Singing, Baby Massage Courses, Mama-Baby Retreats and Workshops in Vienna Gersthof.
What is a Bring-Your-Baby Yoga class?
A Bring-Your-Baby class is exactly what the name says: you come to yoga with your baby. No babysitter needed. No planning around nap times. You come as you are — baby on your hip, nappy bag over your shoulder — and you are warmly welcome.
The concept is simple, but what it makes possible is powerful. In a Mama Baby Yoga class at Be Your Muse Yoga in Vienna’s 18th district, everything is allowed: breastfeeding mid-pose, pausing to settle a crying baby, resting when you need it, laughing when your little one rolls off the mat. The unpredictability isn’t a problem — it is the practice.
What do mamas really need after birth?
After birth, a mother’s body and mind need specific, intentional support — and most conventional fitness classes simply aren’t designed for that.
Physically, the postpartum body is in an intensive recovery phase. The focus needs to be on:
• Pelvic floor rehabilitation — one of the most commonly overlooked areas in postnatal recovery
• Gentle rebuilding of the core — protective and gradual, without straining healing tissue
• Releasing tension in shoulders, neck and hips from pregnancy and birth
• Support with common postpartum discomforts such as back pain and postural issues from feeding and carrying
Mentally and emotionally, new mothers often experience a highly activated nervous system. They’re sleep-deprived, hormonally shifting, and navigating one of the greatest identity changes of their lives. What they need is not more pressure or performance — but practices that calm, ground and restore. Breathwork, gentle movement and moments of stillness can make a profound difference.
A well-designed postnatal yoga class addresses all of these layers at once.
How is Mama Baby Yoga different from a regular yoga class?
If you’ve ever worried that a yoga class with babies would be chaotic or “not real yoga” — you’re not alone. But here’s the truth: that very adaptation is what makes it so valuable.
In a conventional yoga class, quiet, focus and uninterrupted flow are expected. In a mama-baby class, interruptions aren’t just accepted — they’re part of the practice. A baby who needs feeding mid-pose isn’t a disruption. A mother spending five minutes settling her newborn instead of following the sequence isn’t doing it wrong.
What emerges instead is real connection:
• More softness. Less performance, more presence.
• More laughter. Babies care very little whether everything runs smoothly.
• Deeper authenticity. Because you’re practising under real conditions, not ideal ones.
• Community. Mothers support each other naturally — with a knowing look, a helping hand, the quiet
recognition: I know that feeling.
The class adapts to the room. Sometimes that means changing the sequence spontaneously — sometimes the teacher holds two babies while guiding the group through a breathing exercise. It’s human, it’s warm — and it works.
The closing circle: why connection matters as much as movement
One of the most meaningful moments in our Mama Baby Yoga classes is not a pose — it’s the closing circle.
At the end of each session, mothers gather and share how they’re really doing. Not the polished version. The real one. This honest space — the mama sharing — gives women the chance to say out loud what they’re experiencing: the exhaustion, the joy, the confusion, the love, the loneliness.
And when one mother speaks, the others recognise themselves.
That recognition is incredibly healing. So much of early motherhood can feel isolating. Sitting in a circle with other mothers who get it — without explanation or justification — is something no regular fitness class can replace.
More than movement: what Mama Baby Yoga means for identity
The most profound thing that happens in a Mama Baby Yoga class may have nothing to do with the physical practice at all.
For many mothers, simply showing up to the class is already a meaningful act — taking even one hour to move your body and be among adults can mean an enormous amount. When a mother steps through the door, she makes a statement, even if she doesn’t put it into words:
“I am still here. I matter too.”
The early postpartum period is often accompanied by an invisible pressure to become “the person you were before.” Mama Baby Yoga at Be Your Muse consciously resists that. The goal is never to return to who you were. It’s about reconnecting with who you are now — in a body that has done something extraordinary, in a life that has completely changed.
What mothers find in these classes, again and again, is not just stronger muscles or a calmer nervous system (though both happen). They find reconnection: to their body, to other women, and to themselves.
Who is Mama Baby Yoga for?
Mama Baby Yoga at Be Your Muse Yoga is for:
• Mothers after birth who want to return to movement safely and gently — as an alternative or complement to traditional postnatal exercise
• New mamas with babies from around 6–8 weeks up to around 1 year (after vaginal birth; after caesarean from approx. 10–12 weeks or after medical clearance)
• Anyone wanting to move through the emotional and physical transition into motherhood with intention — and even without a baby, you are of course welcome too!
No yoga experience needed. You don’t need to have it all together. You just need to show up — baby and all.
